The service
Circle Us Up lets members over 18 find, join and host sports and social events, and lets venues, clubs and coaches ("venue hosts") list sessions. We introduce people and help events happen. We do not organise, run, supervise or attend events: each event is the responsibility of its host, and of the venue where it takes place.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over and use your real name. One account per person.
- Verification (photo ID matched to a selfie) is optional for playing, required to host paid events or receive payouts, and required by some hosts for their events. Two-person meetups are only available between verified members.
- Keep your phone secure; sign-in codes are for you only.
Community rules
- Show up when you have taken a spot, or drop out before the confirmation deadline. Repeated no-shows lower your show-up rate and can lead to a strike.
- Chat only inside events you share, in front of everyone. No harassment, discrimination or unwanted contact. Report anything off; reported members may be paused while a person reviews it, normally within 24 hours. If your account is paused we will tell you why, and you can appeal by emailing the contact form at /contact.
- Women-led events are for women only: only members whose ID check confirms they are a woman can join.
- The full community rules are at /rules.
- Hosts list honest details (venue, time, cost, who can join) and run what they listed.
Money
- Each event page says how it is paid for: free, paid at the venue on the day, or paid through the app. Venues may sell their own tickets.
- Sessions run by a venue, club or coach: pay in the app when you book, or, if that venue allows it, pay the venue on the day. Money paid in the app goes to the venue. If the venue cancels, you get it back in full. If you miss two sessions without leaving the event first, you'll need to pay in the app to book venue sessions.
- Events run by members: payment is taken by Stripe using Apple Pay or Google Pay; we never see or store your card details. You are asked to pay within the six days before the event, by the host's cut-off. If you don't pay by the cut-off, your spot is released to the next person.
- For events run by members, money paid through the app is held until the event has taken place, then released to the host. It is refunded in full if the event is cancelled or does not reach its minimum.
- If you leave an event, refunds follow the host's refund settings shown on the event page before you pay (for example, a full refund before the cut-off, or a refund if your spot is refilled). These never reduce your legal rights.
- Payments made at the venue are between you and the venue.
- Hosts receiving payouts agree to Stripe's connected-account terms. Circle Us Up may charge a service fee, always shown before you pay; today there is none.
Venue hosts
Businesses apply to be listed. We check company and insurance details before approval and can remove a listing at any time. Venue hosts are responsible for their sessions, staff, equipment and premises.
Ending things
You can delete your account in the app at any time. We can suspend or remove accounts that break these rules or the law.
Taking part at your own risk
- Sport and physical activity carry a risk of injury. You take part voluntarily, at your own risk, and only at a level you are fit and able for. If you have a health condition, check with a doctor first.
- You are responsible for your own conduct, your own belongings and any equipment you bring.
- Follow the venue's rules and any instructions from the host, coach or venue staff, including safety briefings.
- If you drink alcohol at a social event, do so responsibly. You must be 18 or over.
- Meet only at the listed public venue, and use your own judgement about meeting anyone afterwards.
Hosts and venues
Hosts are responsible for describing their event honestly and running it as listed. Venue hosts are responsible for their premises, staff, equipment, health and safety, licences and their own insurance. Individual hosts organise events in a personal capacity and are not our employees or agents.
Liability
We provide the service as is and do our best to keep it safe and working. We are not responsible for what happens at events, or for the acts or omissions of hosts, venues or other members, except where loss is caused by our own negligence or breach of these terms. We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your right to a refund for an event that does not take place.
Changes and contact
We will tell you in the app before material changes. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Contact: the contact form at /contact.
